New Year, New Adventures – An Update On Our Partnership With Kathmandu

Us Hiking In Sydney Kathmandu 2018
Us hiking in Sydney at the beginning of 2018, ready for an exciting year with Kathmandu.

At the beginning of 2017 we started doing some work with Australia and New Zealand’s biggest and best adventure gear company, Kathmandu.

It was a standard opportunity for us, with the brand offering a clothing sponsorship to help us on our travels, and in exchange we would do some social media promotion if we liked the gear,

Being big fans of their equipment for the last 10 years we have been travelling the world, it was an easy thing to do, as we genuinely love their products. In fact we have been long-term customers of Kathmandu well before social media was even a thing.

Kathmandu has always supported athletes, explorers and adventurers with big ambitions, and we were honoured to be a small part of their family.

They sent us some clothing to restock our backpacks, and we put it to the test. From the glaciers of Antarctica to the peaks of Patagonia and into the valleys of Kyrgyzstan, we pushed the equipment as hard as we could, and are happy to say it held up perfectly.

Halfway through the year we took our relationship with Kathmandu up another level, and excitedly signed on as one of their official travel influencers for the next 6 months.

This meant we would not only keep using their gear in epic locations, but also start creating content for them on both our channels and theirs.

To say we were over the moon would be an understatement, and we were humbled to have our NOMADasaurus brand officially aligned with our favourite gear company.

The more we learnt about the inner-workings of the company during 2017, the more we realised just how seriously Kathmandu takes the issue of sustainability.

As full-time travellers this is also a topic that we care deeply about, and have written about it quite extensively in a number of different locations.

Seeing exactly what Kathmandu has committed to, such as using recycled materials in their clothes, aiming to send zero waste to landfills and converting their offices and stores into 5-star green buildings, is nothing short of inspiring, and is a positive step forward in the current global climate.

Needless to say, we love them even more now.

It’s the start of a new year, and we are very proud to announce that we have just signed on with Kathmandu for all of 2018!

So what exactly does that mean? Well, we’ll be continuing to create a bunch of new adventure content from around the world, and we’ll also begin focusing on how to minimise your environmental impact while travelling.

In addition we are going to be attending a bunch of events organised through their ‘Summit Club‘, such as volunteer clean-up days in Sydney and maybe even an international trek to raise funds for the Australian Himalayan Foundation.

We’re also heading off to New Zealand for a bunch of kayaking and trekking, and will be testing the latest and greatest camping gear Kathmandu has available.

While we’re here in Australia we’ll be seeking out some of New South Wale’s best hikes, and in August we travel to Kyrgyzstan to lead the first of our PhotoVenture tours.

The rest of the year is still being finalised (trust us, it looks epic so far), and there’s plenty more amazing destinations and activities on the horizon.

One thing we want to say is that we will always be honest with you guys, our readers, as without your support NOMADasaurus wouldn’t be where it is today. And if at some point we find some gear that isn’t up to our standards, we’re not going to say it’s amazing just because of our relationship. We believe in transparency.

Not that we’re worried this will happen though, and based on the feedback we’ve received from everyone who also uses their gear, you guys love them as much as we do.

No matter what happens we’re excited to be taking on some of the world’s best places with Kathmandu as our partners. Stay tuned for a truly remarkable year of adventure!

  1. So happy for you guys!! Let’s try and find some time to meet up this year, since my trip to Perth in December failed on that front.

    • Thanks so much Dave. We definitely will make time for you to catch up somewhere this year. Talk soon.

  2. Sounds like you’ve had a really successful year, congratulations! I have to second Tiffany on the Kathmandu products, top class.

    • Thank you Will. We are very lucky in the way things are going. Glad you are a keen user of the Kathmandu products. We love their clothing and have been using them for over 10 years. Take care and happy travels.

  3. Hey You Guys,
That sounds awesome! This was a well written post. My husband and I lived in NZ for ~1 year and Australia for ~@ years. We bought and used several Kathmandu items and they were awesome products. Some of the products I use and love I couldn’t even think about changing. I think this all sounds like a great partnership! 🙂

    • Hi Tiffany, that’s awesome you have experienced living in both countries. Did you travel around? We are going to NZ next month and are looking forward to it. We are the same as you. We have been using Kathmandu products for so long, that we can’t imagine changing them. We truly believe in their products and are over the moon to be partnering with them this year. Happy travels
